Amy DeYoung and Travis Hall presented a recommendation to the Gull Lake Community Schools Finance Committee to purchase eight diesel buses as part of the district's five‑year transportation plan. "The recommendation for the bus purchases is to purchase from Midwest Transit with a total cost of $1,331,676 not including trade-in amounts," the presenters said during the committee meeting on Dec. 15, 2025.
The recommendation calls for six regular‑education buses and two special‑education buses, with trade‑ins of eight existing buses. Bids were solicited through the MSBO Bus Purchasing Program Cooperative. Amanda McElroy, the district's Director of Business Services, told the committee that financing options will be brought forward alongside the formal bid recommendation at the Jan. 2026 Board meeting, meaning the committee did not take a purchasing vote at this session.
