Two public-safety items moved unanimously through the commission: funding for additional Motorola radio equipment and a declaration that an out-of-service EMS vehicle be declared surplus.
Commissioner Cowles presented Resolution 121624103 to fund additional radio equipment under a Motorola contract; commissioners asked how many units were being purchased and whether the funding came from sheriff's department proceeds. Cowles said some funds were coming from the Sheriff's Department and that the equipment was necessary for the radio system under contract.
Dr. Martin presented Resolution 121624109 requesting that a vehicle previously used by EMS be declared surplus because it was no longer in service. The commission moved, seconded and approved the surplus declaration, and also approved the radio equipment funding resolution.
Commissioners noted the importance of maintaining reliable radio communications and ensuring EMS inventory is managed through surplus declarations for replacement.
