The Marysville Board of Education recognized five students as this month’s Viking Spirit award recipients during its May 22, 2025 meeting. Superintendent Tracie Eschenburg led the recognition of Gabriella Rodriquez, Lillian Parker, Deacon Wehner, Emma Healy and Julliana Simmons.
Eschenburg also announced that artwork by 25 students — five from each academic building — will be displayed in the District Administration Office through the conclusion of the 2025–26 school year. Vice President Kevin Palmateer read the board’s opening statement to the audience at the start of the meeting: "Thank you for attending the Marysville Public Schools Board of Education Meeting. The Board reserves a portion of each meeting for citizens to speak to the Board about subjects related to Marysville Public Schools." The minutes show the citizen comment period produced no speakers that evening.
Why it matters: public recognition and visible displays of student work are routine district practices that the board used to highlight student achievement and community engagement. The district said the art display is a year-long exhibit; details on any opening event or how the students were selected were not specified in the minutes.
