Parent and risk professional urges immediate notification policy after bus incident

Lisa Hill identified herself as a parent and as a professional in artificial intelligence, information security and risk management, and told the board the incident described by Nicole Livingston is a serious operational failure that required faster notification.
"I will use the word kidnap," Hill said, explaining that Livingston was repeatedly told her children had been handed off to a person who did not exist. Hill said her professional experience with incident response leads her to expect stakeholder notification within 24 hours and a formal review of release procedures.
Hill said if the district relies only on retraining without technical safeguards, the same errors will recur. She asked for a formal review of dismissal procedures available to parents, and for parents to be included in solution planning.
District administrators acknowledged the need to review notification practices while reiterating they had completed an initial internal debrief and implemented immediate procedural fixes. The board said it will consider how and when to notify the broader parent body in future incidents.
