The Manistee Area Public Schools Board of Education on July 9 approved the district’s annual organizational authorizations, giving the superintendent and business office authority to manage depositories and routine financial operations.
The motion, offered by Jim Thompson, board member, and supported by Jessica Stallings, passed on a 4–0 roll call. The board retained two law firms as school district attorneys (THRUN Law Firm, P.C. and Clark Hill), authorized the superintendent — with the board treasurer’s approval — to make investments permitted by school law, approved the use of a Filer Credit Union VISA in accordance with Board Policy 3209 for district purchases, authorized the superintendent or a designee to sign checks, contracts and purchase orders, and appointed the Business Manager as the district’s Electronic Transfer Officer to permit authorized electronic transfers.
