General Counsel Montgomery reported that the Agricultural Labor Relations Board reached a settlement in Region 1 in July after a strawberry harvester filed an unfair labor practice charge against JG Berries Inc.
Montgomery said the worker alleged the company retaliated by changing working conditions — including isolating him from coworkers — after he engaged in what the transcript describes as protective concerted activity tied to requests for raises and organizing. Montgomery said, "The parties reached a settlement with the ALRB, responded, agreed to pay the charging party total of back pay and interest owed, which was $1,564, as well as the standard noticing remedies." Montgomery did not provide further adjudicative details in open session.
The board did not take further public action on the case at this meeting. Montgomery framed the settlement as part of general counsel staff work in the regions and did not identify additional enforcement steps during the open report.
