Select Board approves conservation restriction on 1.1-acre Susuet Creek parcel

The Select Board unanimously approved a conservation restriction July 28 that will preserve a 1.1-acre parcel on Susuet Creek in East Dennis.
Kat Garafoli, land protection specialist with the Dennis Conservation Land Trust through the Compact of Cape Cod Conservation Trusts, said the restriction had been pending state approval for roughly 3.5 years and will remove development rights from the parcel. "This conservation restriction has been sitting up in the state for at least 3.5 years," Garafoli said, and described the property as important to water quality, within the Natural Heritage & Endangered Species Program designation, and containing state-designated prime forest land.
The donation was described as a modest but meaningful gift that will ensure the property remains undeveloped and contributes to watershed protection. The board voted to approve and execute the restriction so the land trust could record the restriction and complete the conservation transaction.
