Council sets movie-in-the-park for Oct. 3 to avoid calendar conflicts

Lucas City staff told the council that most October weekends conflict with existing events and school schedules, leaving Oct. 3 as the only weekend with no calendar conflicts. "The only date where we don't have anything conflicting at all is October 3," parks presenter Joe Hilborn said while outlining the scheduling challenges.
Council members discussed the operational trade-offs of holding the movie the night before the farmers market (staffing and extra cleanup) versus scheduling it a week earlier or later. One council member noted doing the movie on the night before the market increases staffing costs because staff must both clean up evening events and set up the market. A motion to move the movie to Oct. 3 was made and approved by voice vote.
