Summit County officials tell Henefer basic law-enforcement service could cost about $31,000 a year

Shayne Scott, Summit County Manager, told the council that "The annual cost for basic level service is $31,000." Summit County Sheriff Kacey Bates and Finance Officer Matt Leavitt joined the discussion. Councilors discussed possible funding through town taxes or the town’s general emergency fund. Ty Bailey noted Morgan City pays for a basic level of service and has one dedicated officer.
Councilors did not take a formal vote to change service arrangements at the meeting; members asked staff to continue exploring options and to return with more information about tax implications and service levels.
