The Marin County Board of Education adopted an updated facilities fee schedule covering public use of county-office facilities under the Civic Center Act.
Mike Grant (speaker 11) presented the recommended fee updates, noting the schedule had not been revised in more than a decade and that direct costs for staffing and utilities had increased. Trustees asked whether user groups must carry liability insurance and how room charges are calculated. Staff confirmed that any outside group must execute a facilities-use agreement and provide a certificate of liability insurance. Room rates are calculated from direct staffing time plus a proportional share of utilities and deferred maintenance costs.
The board moved to adopt the fee schedule; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote. Trustees acknowledged the schedule is rarely invoked (staff said it applied to only five meetings out of 3,183 during the last two years) and that most facility use is for MCOE or district meetings.
