District announces new Community Education Foundation and summer events

Superintendent Adam Bowen told the board that the New Buffalo Community Education Foundation is now officially established and described its expanding purpose beyond initial field improvements to include scholarships, supporting enrollment and educator recruitment, enhancing facilities, and promoting STEAM and the arts. Bowen also reported recent student events and near-term calendar items: a Vive18 presentation on May 2 focused on substance-awareness (paid by Bloomery), the 8th-grade trip to Washington, D.C., prom at Sawyer Section House, Senior Trip on May 22, and graduation scheduled for May 30 at 7 PM (with an outdoor/indoor location decision dependent on the morning weather).
