She described how the 1947 state road fund tax is split among "the state, Jefferson County, and cities in Kentucky," and added that "cities in Kentucky are losing a combined $1.5 million every 30 days" because of a gas tax hold at the state level.
The budget lists $400,000 for the Road Fund and identifies Public Works as the largest appropriation at $689,231; the mayor highlighted a $20,000 increase in tree services to address storm damage and the maturity of city trees. The transfer to the road fund is listed to ensure funding is available should the council proceed with sidewalk construction on Kinnard.
