Police support for Winetoberfest and DOJ grant application for township drone program

A township public-safety representative reviewed a Winetoberfest proposal for Oct. 10 at 355 Maple Avenue, describing VIP and public hours, a proposed 100 vendors and an attendee estimate of roughly 1,000, on-site EMS arrangements and two security officers, and planned parking/traffic controls including coordination with local fire police. The representative said the event organizer has been receptive to suggested traffic-flow changes and will continue to refine arrangements with township staff.
On public-safety technology, the same official said the township "did submit a DOJ grant for about $43,000 to cover equipment and training" to create a drone program for event surveillance, searches and operational support; the grant is pending. The officer also reported that Avive AEDs deployed during a recent emergency functioned and recorded data via QR-code logs but that the patient did not survive; staff emphasized the device worked as intended for post-event review.
