Boardwalk Town Center opened for public tours; city to draft rental activation policy

Assistant City Manager Chris Haggard briefed the RPAC on the Boardwalk Town Center, noting the site is now open to the public in most areas and that council has asked staff to develop an activation and rental policy.
"As of today, the fences came down," Haggard said, describing three discrete areas (the band shell, a north overlook and a west overlook) that staff is considering as separately rentable spaces so that a single rental will not close public access to the entire park. He said staff plans to return in April with a draft policy and invited the committee on a short site tour that same evening.
Haggard emphasized the council's instruction that rentals should preserve public access to walking loops and trails even when an event area is rented. Committee members praised the boardwalk during the post-tour remarks and encouraged public visitation.
