Council hears 2'3 year timeline and possible $1.5'$2M shortfall for Medlock Bridal Trail

"Would probably take somewhere around 24 months to complete the engineering and go through the federal process with environmental, and all that," staff said. Staff also said the city has received a $400,000 grant for the project but currently estimates a remaining funding shortfall of roughly $1.5 million to $2 million due to increased land values and higher material costs.
Council members asked whether the additional $900,000 discussed would be sufficient; staff said it would not complete the project on its own and would need to be leveraged with state or federal funds. Council asked staff to return with refined cost estimates and a strategy for leveraging grant and state/federal funding.
