Lorain County boards agencies to migrate to Ohio MARCS; some need funding for radios

The Lorain County 9-1-1 Review Board minutes record that MARCS radios are installed at LC 911 Dispatch and that the county is scheduling agency migration to the Ohio MARCS radio system. The minutes list the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office, South Lorain County Ambulance District, and Central Lorain County Ambulance as first in line to switch; the minutes say those agencies are programmed and are waiting on the state to complete the move.
Several other jurisdictions were identified as planning to switch when current contracts expire or when funding is available, including Wellington fire and police, Grafton Township, Grafton Village fire and police, LaGrange police, Columbia, Eaton Township, Carlisle fire, and Metro Parks. The board directed creation of a document explaining the MARCS sign-up and migration process, and Jeff Young was assigned to draft a letter to community leaders about available grants and funding opportunities to assist agencies that lack radios.
