Developers present vision and funding challenges for proposed Brown Deer recreation complex

Trustees heard a progress update on a proposed recreation and sports complex from CO‑OP partners and village staff. Scott Delt of Co‑op Partners outlined a conceptual master plan that includes ice rinks, a large turf field, multiple courts and space for complementary commercial uses; presenters estimated the sports complex itself at about 250,000 square feet and proposed ancillary uses such as a 100‑key hotel and 15,000–20,000 square feet of commercial space.
"We're working on funding sources," Scott Delt said as presenters described financial modeling and market studies completed to date. Staff said the developers identified a funding gap and are pursuing grants and other sources; village staff added they have been coordinating with state and federal legislators and plan a concentrated outreach campaign as the next budget cycle approaches. Presenters said they will develop architectural renderings and a 3‑D model and return to the board with updated cost and funding options in roughly 30–60 days.
