Council hears plan to pair culvert and drainage repairs with street projects; $130,000 estimated this year

Patrick Hubbard said initial inspections and condition assessments identified roughly $130,000 in culvert work required in neighborhoods scheduled for pavement work this year and that a separate drainage account is expected to cover almost that amount. "We have a stormwater database" he said, noting that staff are still improving the condition-assessment data and that culvert and ditch maintenance will be an ongoing multi-year effort.
Council members emphasized that replacing culverts without parallel ditch-clearing by downstream property owners could limit the benefit and asked for outreach to coordinate citizen maintenance with city projects.
