Committee discusses VIP tables and rental-fee plan; council to review table rental policy in April
Summary
A committee member suggested $10,000 sponsors be allowed to place items in the time capsule and proposed selling VIP tables to raise funds; staff said the mayor and council will consider a rental-fee schedule at an April work session and noted current example rates of $200 per table (residents) and $300 per table (non-residents).

Committee members raised fundraising options, including allowing high-tier sponsors (for example, a $10,000 sponsorship) to place a small item in the time capsule. The idea was offered as a way to incentivize sponsorship but requires further policy discussion.
A committee member suggested selling VIP tables as a sponsorship path to fund event elements. Staff said the mayor and council will take up a rental-fee schedule for the Boardwalk at an April work session and that, as an example from Newtown Park, current rental rates are $200 per table for residents and $300 per table for non-residents. "Mayor and council will take that up in April," staff said; no council decision was made at the ACE meeting.
Committee members acknowledged budget and access trade-offs (ensuring rental tables do not block views) and asked staff to coordinate with parks staff and the mayor and council on any fee-schedule changes prior to implementation.
