Plan revision eases truck-and-trailer turning, commissioner says

A central focus of the site visit was apparatus access and how large trucks and trailers will enter, turn and exit the facility. The commissioner emphasized that earlier options presented challenges for truck-and-trailer turning and that the preferred layout improves circulation so ambulances and larger apparatus can leave the site without interfering with nearby residential traffic. "We were also concerned on this 1 with trying to make this turn with a truck and trailer," the commissioner said when describing earlier options.
The design keeps crew parking and secure access inside the site and provides a single apparatus entrance and exit to simplify movement. Participants noted the apparatus flow was tested against parking and maintenance areas and that trailers staged behind the maintenance area should not block exits during emergency calls.
