Chloe Choi, a Northview High School student, told the council that uneven street lighting on portions of Abbotts Bridge Road (GA 120) creates safety risks for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists and urged the city to evaluate darker stretches and consider LED upgrades.
"When I'm driving with my parents at night, especially along Abbotsbridge Road, GA 120, there are stretches where it becomes very difficult to see clearly ahead," Choi said. She told council that inconsistent spacing and missing lights reduce reaction time for drivers and make walking and cycling feel unsafe.
Choi asked the council to prioritize improvements in high-traffic darker areas and consider brighter, energy-efficient lighting as a long-term solution. Council acknowledged the concern and thanked her for raising a safety-focused request to be reviewed by staff.
