RSU 18 board recognizes students who medaled at state skills competition

The RSU 18 board recognized students who earned top placements at the state skills competition hosted by the Mid Maine Technical Center. Principal Scott Hallett introduced seven students and asked the board to join him in applauding their achievements.
"Miss Samantha Stevens who received a silver medal for nurse assisting," Principal Scott Hallett said while listing medalists, adding that Neveah Harland earned a gold medal in emergency medical technician and Ali Gosselin won silver in EMT. Board members called for "one more round of applause for all of you."
Board members and staff used the moment to emphasize career and technical education (CTE) benefits, including access to dual-enrollment credits and practical skills that can lead directly to jobs. A district staff member told the board the program had run 25 classes last fall with about 171 participants, roughly 100 of whom were from RSU 18 towns, calling the program a "pretty good investment for our community."
