Board seeks clarity after inaccurate materials about Gateway; schedules Facilities Master Plan discussion for Dec. 15

Board Member Beverly Gerard told colleagues on Nov. 19 that information presented at a recent Association of California County Boards of Education (ACCBE) meeting incorrectly stated that the County Office was closing its Community School and opening a middle college. Gerard said the material used the County Office logo and caused concern because the content was inaccurate.
The Board sought and received confirmation that Gateway is not closing and that no middle college is being opened at this time. Board Member Chelsea Bonini urged that the Gateway Subcommittee be included in any Facilities Master Plan discussions; Deputy Superintendent Marco Chávez said the Facilities Master Plan would be on the Dec. 15 Board agenda for fuller review.
Board members emphasized the need for transparency and timely information sharing when external presentations use County Office branding. The Board requested staff to provide accurate materials and to ensure subcommittees are looped into discussions that affect program planning and communications.
