Resident says proposed data-center ban is 'incredibly vague,' urges numeric threshold to preserve local uses

Patrick Triscuit of 56 Line Road addressed the board during public comment and said the ordinance language was too vague and risked banning data uses the town already wants to keep.
"I read the ordinance and it's incredibly vague," Triscuit said. He described multiple existing data-related operations in Holmdel and told the board he supported barring "massive, AI" scale centers that need specialized power and cooling, but said the town should not close the door on smaller, local data operations. "We have hundreds of data centers in Holmdel operating, just fine," he said, and urged the board to include a numeric threshold so that modest, on-site operations would remain allowed.
Triscuit urged the board to distinguish between accessory server rooms used by local companies and large commercial data centers that would have substantial environmental and infrastructure impacts.
