Plevna approves $14,515.35 in October claims; mayor to seek county help on road chip costs

Clerk/Treasurer Ashley Bondell presented and the council approved the October 2025 claims check register totaling $14,515.35. Councilwoman Promise Miller moved to approve the claims (with the Ohana Goats amendment) and the motion passed 4‑0. The register lists 16 check items including a $4,326 payment to Midco Diving & Marine and several payments to Ohana Goats LLC.
Mayor Gary Thielen told the council he had discussed road chips with a supplier (Prince) and reported an estimate for 850 tons of chips of about $37,000–$48,000; he said the last time the town purchased chips the cost was roughly $30,000. Thielen said he planned to speak with county commissioners to ask if they would split half the cost of oil and provide crews to do the work if the town covers half the oil cost.
The council did not take any formal action on road chips at the Nov. 10 meeting beyond the mayor's report that he would pursue conversations with county officials; no funding commitment or intergovernmental agreement was made.
