Plevna council sets Oct. 1 deadline for residents to schedule meter replacements

The council discussed ongoing water meter replacements at the Sept. 18 meeting after Clerk/Treasurer Ashley Bondell said Water/Wastewater Operator Sam Thielen had '3-4 meters lined up to switch out over the weekend' but was not receiving responses from other residents. Bondell said she had sent letters advising that the town received a grant to cover meter costs and that the town will cover installation.
Councilmember Promise Miller stated roughly 25 meters remain to be swapped. Mayor Gary Thielen recommended—and the council agreed—to send a notice requiring residents to contact Sam within 10 days to schedule meter changes, with a final deadline of Oct. 1: those who do not schedule by that date may have water service shut off until compliance.
