The Utah State Tax Commission voted unanimously on Nov. 21 to designate Deputy Executive Director Deanna Herring as Acting Executive Director until the Commission appoints a new Executive Director, with no change to her current compensation and emoluments.
"Due to Executive Director Scott Smith’s absence to care for a family member and his upcoming retirement, I move that the Commission designate Deputy Executive Director Deanna Herring as Acting Executive Director until the commission appoints a new Executive Director, with no change to her current compensation and emoluments," Commissioner Rebecca L. Rockwell said when making the motion. Chair John L. Valentine took a roll-call vote and the motion passed unanimously.
Herring thanked the Commission for their vote of confidence during the Executive Director's report later in the meeting. The designation is temporary and the Commission said it will proceed with appointing a permanent Executive Director at a future time.
