Intern Casey demos seed harvesting and germination at SWCD meeting

Casey, an intern participating with the Laporte County SWCD, gave a short instructional presentation on native-plant stewardship, describing how to tell natives from non-natives and invasives and demonstrating a paper-towel germination technique.
"Before I give the demonstration, I will be demonstrating how to do germination to, like, the, paper towel method where you just put it in a bag and then you just let it exist for a little bit before it sprouts," Casey said. She also described seed-harvesting and basic invasive-control steps, and invited questions from the board and public. Board members praised Casey's three-year internship and offered to provide reference letters as she transitions from the program.
