SWCD reports River Days donations, seeks about $6,100 to close gap

The Laporte County Soil and Water Conservation District Administrator said the district has secured donations for its River Days event — $15,000 from the Kankakee River Commission, $10,000 from RWE and $1,000 from Cargill — but remains roughly $6,100 short of its target.
"We did receive the $15,000 for river days from the Kinkakee River Commission. And, we also received 10,000 from the RWE. We received 1000 dollars from Cargill," the Administrator reported during the Aug. 4 meeting. The Administrator also said a $61,000 reimbursement request was filed under a Clean Water Indiana grant to support program activities and that the board is pursuing additional corporate foundations and other contacts to bridge the shortfall.
