The Poulsbo Tree Board agreed to step up recruitment and outreach for new members after several long-serving volunteers resigned. Committee member (S3) proposed marketing open positions in October and organizing a Q&A meet-and-greet in November so prospective applicants can learn what the board does before applying. "A q and a, a meet and greet so people have a chance to learn what I was in a what I was hearing," the Committee member said, emphasizing the event would be informational and not a selection process.
Members suggested outreach targets including the WSU extension/Master Gardeners, the Parks & Rec Commission, local builders and contractors, and native-plant groups. Staff cautioned that formal appointment authority rests with the mayor and City Council; the proposed event would give applicants a chance to learn about commitments and expectations without acting as a vote or selection forum.
Staff will run the timetable for marketing the open positions in October, host meet-and-greet logistics in November, and aim to have recommended candidates ready for council consideration in December so appointees could start in January.
