The director told commissioners the city council completed review of all 13 comprehensive‑plan chapters and did not make a formal change to the transportation connectivity map but included the commission's modifications for further review. The council will receive the Viking text amendment workshop in September and a public hearing thereafter.
Staff also noted the start of biannual budget work in September, an RFQ for preapproved accessory dwelling unit (ADU) plans (400–1,000 square feet) in partnership with neighboring jurisdictions, and a 10‑week downtown parking study by Walker Consultants. A budget amendment to fund the parking study's implementation‑cost analysis will be considered at the next council meeting.
Commissioners were informed the ADU RFQ received eight submissions and the plan is to have selected preapproved plan sets available to the public in March next year.
