Finance director projects $8.3M surplus for 2025; commissioners approve three MOUs for tax data and hold a large paving check

Curtis Lang, accounting, briefed the board on county financial items and the upcoming budget hearings. Lang said the county is projecting roughly $107,000,000 in revenues and a little over $99,000,000 in expenses for 2025, yielding a projected surplus of approximately $8,300,000.
Lang also requested the chair sign three standard memorandums of understanding from the Colorado Department of Revenue to receive confidential aggregated sales tax data (sales tax, marijuana sales tax and lodging tax). As Lang summarized, "1 is for sales tax, 1 is for the marijuana sales tax, and 1 is for lodging." Commissioners approved the MOUs and authorized the chair to sign applicable documents.
In the vouchers discussion Lang reported the week's batch totaled $1,526,814; one check of about $1,200,000 related to a paving project would be held pending verification of work. The board moved to approve vouchers, wire payments and interfund transfers for payment on 09/25/2024 for Grand County and the Department of Human Services, with the specified check held until verification of work was received.
The board noted budget hearings will begin next week and that the finance documents are in the commissioners' drop box for review.
