Plevna — Mayor Gary Thielen told the Town Council on Dec. 30 that he will contact a contractor (Prince) about delivering chips for a chip-seal project on town roads and will meet with county commissioners to discuss cost-sharing.
Thielen said he had spoken with Mike Sharp about a month earlier and that Sharp estimated a hauling cost of about $37–$38 per ton, with an anticipated need of about 850 tons. Thielen suggested storing the material at the Hay Creek turnoff while the council arranges final plans. The council indicated support for Thielen to set up the work and to talk to county commissioners about splitting some of the cost.
The mayor reopened the meeting briefly at 7:20 p.m. to raise the item after the earlier adjournment; the discussion concluded with no formal vote recorded and with the mayor planning follow-up meetings with county officials.
