Superintendent outlines 2025 priorities: language-arts pilot, AI task force and a major food distribution

The district superintendent summarized notable accomplishments and near-term initiatives during the Dec. 11 board meeting, including an English/Spanish language-arts pilot, a new district AI task force, and expanded transportation and nutrition services.
The superintendent noted partnerships with community organizations and thanked the Sunnyvale Education Foundation for financial support: “I want to thank the Sunnyvale Education Foundation for their campaign, which weighs over $22,000 to provide direct support to our families,” the superintendent said. Staff also reported that prior food distributions supported about 400 families and that the district plans another distribution next Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the district office.
Other items highlighted were the district’s Golden Bell recognition for parent engagement, a three-year settlement with employee partners and a pilot for student board reports. Staff said the after-school expansion will add roughly 200 slots across identified schools, with an anticipated launch in late January or early February.
