The Sunnyvale School District Board of Trustees completed its annual organizational items on Dec. 11, confirming trustee Paishen Brewster as board president. Chair (presiding) nominated Brewster “for the role of president,” a motion that was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The board also confirmed Isabelle as vice president and Evelyn as clerk following nominations and affirmative voice votes. Trustees discussed committee and liaison assignments, appointing representatives to the Santa Clara County School Boards Association, the Citizens Bond Oversight Committee and other district and county bodies. The board noted that committee roles and alternates can be revisited if schedules require changes.
The reorganization followed a superintendent presentation highlighting 2025 accomplishments including language-arts pilot programs, a three-year labor settlement, cybersecurity improvements and a new memorandum of understanding with the Sunnyvale Education Foundation. Board members also presented outgoing president Bridget Watson with a plaque and paused for photographs before resuming the meeting.
