The Utah State Tax Commission on Oct. 24 approved written requests from several county Boards of Equalization to extend the time available for those boards to issue decisions on property tax appeals filed by taxpayers for the 2023 tax year. Commissioner Michael J. Cragun moved the motion to approve the schedule of extensions as listed on the agenda.
The counties and new decision dates presented on the record were: Millard County — November 19, 2024; Grand County — December 6, 2024; Davis County — December 15, 2024; Carbon County — December 15, 2024; Weber County — December 31, 2024; Summit County — December 31, 2024; Utah County — February 28, 2025; and Salt Lake County — May 6, 2025. The request letter cited heavy volume of 2023 appeals and asked the Commission to extend the time period set by Utah Code Ann. §59-2-1004(7)(c) for appeals received by the application deadline in Utah Code Ann. §59-2-1004(3)(a). The motion to approve the extensions passed by roll call vote and is recorded on the agenda as passing unanimously.
