Mitch Peters urges graduates to seize opportunity in keynote

Mitch Peters, introduced by the presiding moderator, delivered a keynote that tied personal history to a message of opportunity and service. Peters recounted childhood trauma, addiction, homelessness and eventual recovery, and he urged graduates to treat the program as a life-changing opportunity: "You have each availed yourself of the opportunity to participate in and complete the problem solving core program."
Peters spoke to the duty of service and the expectation that graduates will carry responsibility for their communities, saying graduates are now counted on to "be of service" and to "act selflessly, humbly, committed to action." He cited his own experience in building recovery homes and programs and framed recovery as a process that often requires years of therapy, peer support and sustained commitment.
The keynote was part of a ceremony that also featured alumni testimonials and staff recognition.
