"Applications are due September 6, that Friday by 4PM," said Lynn Heino, special events coordinator for the Poulsbo lodging tax program, during an open house at City Hall. Heino said interviews or presentations may be requested and described the multi‑step calendar staff expects to follow: interviews around Sept. 26 (if needed), committee recommendations in October, budget adoption in November and agreement signing in December so organizations can begin spending in January 2025.
Why it matters: The schedule governs when organizations can apply to receive lodging‑tax money that must be spent on projects designed to attract overnight visitors. Heino walked attendees through the request for proposals, the updated cover page and a checklist of materials applicants should provide, including a project title, funding sources and a simple budget breakdown.
What applicants should do next: Heino said all application materials and the open‑house recording will be posted on the city website and encouraged applicants to contact staff with questions. "We do have copies of the request for proposal" she said, and staff offered to provide hard copies and one‑on‑one help for groups new to the process.
