Summary
After a public hearing and a site visit confirmed removal of a gate that had blocked the right-of-way, the BOCC approved vacating a 500-foot portion of County Road 6674 in the North Sunnyside Addition. Hannah Zagon of Grand County Community Development presented a public hearing record and explained that the applicants requested vacation of a 500-foot portion of County Road 6674 adjacent to their dwelling in the North Sunnyside Addition near Grand Lake. Zagon said staff visited the site and observed a gate with multiple no‑trespassing signs; the gate was subsequently removed and staff recommended approval of the limited vacation to the applicant’s frontage.
County attorney recommended adding a condition to prevent a gate from being replaced on county right-of-way to preserve public access. Applicant Mary Maltby, present online, agreed "we would absolutely be amenable to any notation that no gate be ever placed anywhere on those roads again." The BOCC approved the vacation with the added condition that no obstructions in the form of a gate may be placed on County Road 6674 or 6675, and directed the chair to sign applicable documents.
