Commissioners approve $20,000 Conservation Trust Fund split for Fraser Valley rec center

Scott Ledeen, representing the Fraser Valley Metropolitan Recreation District, asked the Board for Conservation Trust Fund support after contractors identified a roughly $62,000 change order to install spray fireproofing required by code for parts of the rec center expansion. “I'm here today to request some conservation trust funds to help us finish off our, Grant Park Community Recreation Center expansion project,” Ledeen said.
Ledeen said the district previously secured a $1,000,000 grant and additional private contributions and that Mountain Parks Electric will pay half of a roughly $300,000 solar system installed on the gym roof. Commission discussion focused on the unanticipated nature of the change order and how the district would cover remaining costs; Ledeen said the district can reallocate capital and use about $30,000 remaining in its CTF account to help bridge the gap. Commissioner Cimino proposed allocating $20,000 from county CTF accounts split $10k/$6k/$4k across the three commissioner districts; the Board moved and approved the allocation by voice vote.
The vote cleared the district to apply the county funding to the fireproofing change order and continue construction toward an anticipated pre-Christmas completion. The Board asked the district to keep commissioners updated on budget adjustments and project progress.
