Dr. ValentEDn gave a midyear update on the district's LCAP and priorities, telling the board that the district is focusing on literacy, mathematics, belonging, professional development and communications for the next two and a half years. "La 1º es enfocarnos en el alfabetización y matemáticas para que todos nuestros estudiantes... puedan mejorar," he said, framing the priorities as the district's central targets.
In the presentation the superintendent highlighted a preliminary equity analysis that found access gaps across secondary courses. He said the district found "brechas en más de 100 clases en cada escuela," and outlined steps including revising criteria for advanced courses, piloting new primary-level curricula that feed into secondary success, and forming parent-student-staff committees to review spending and access. Board members requested more detail on special-education costs and asked staff to return with expense breakdowns and timelines for the proposed pilots.
