Board elects officers, confirms committee assignments at annual organizational meeting

The Sunnyvale School District board unanimously approved its organizational slate, nominating Richard Brooster to the board presidency and naming Peggy Sue vice president. The motions were made, seconded and approved during the board’s annual organizational item.
Board members debated geographic representation for the coming year, with one member urging more representation from the north side of the district. Several members expressed confidence in the nominees’ experience and the slate passed after brief comments of support. "Todos los que estén a favor, sí pueden decir que sí," the presiding member said as the board voted affirmatively.
The board also confirmed representatives to standing committees, including appointments to the citizens’ oversight committee (COC), the facilities and finance committee, and the wellness committee. Members noted some rotating practices for large capital projects and staff said the district follows a selection process for architects and vendors.
