KRCC roadshow: presenters explain how Puget Sound Regional Council channels federal dollars to Kitsap

Reott said KRCC helps jurisdictions collaborate on countywide planning policies, accessory dwelling unit templates, and regional funding decisions. He noted that in the 2012–2024 period about $84 million flowed to Kitsap through PSRC competitions and that Poulsbo received roughly $14 million of that total. The presenters emphasized that PSRC is the primary vehicle for channeling federal transportation funds and that membership and active participation increase a jurisdiction’s competitiveness for various grant programs.
Mayor Erickson and councilmembers added context on PSRC committee structure and regional coordination, and staff highlighted that participation in KRCC and PSRC helps jurisdictions access multimillion‑dollar funds for roads, transit and trails. Presenters said the KRCC will continue to engage newly elected councils to explain funding pipelines and planning requirements.
