Chief Wasser reports T‑Mobile transition complete and a lateral hire advancing

Langley Police Chief Tavia Wasser updated council on departmental operations, technology and personnel matters.
"We've transferred from our AT and T provider to our now T Mobile," Wasser reported, saying devices have been issued and reception has been good. She said the department is progressing a lateral hire — the candidate's background investigations have been received and the next steps are underway — and that the department is tracking thousands of legislative actions at the state level, roughly 764 of which were law-enforcement related this session and about 20 that the chief is monitoring more closely for potential impact.
Wasser also noted that she has obtained a "train the trainer" certification for CERT, allowing the city to host Community Emergency Response Team classes in coordination with the county. Councilors asked clarifying questions about the status of the lateral candidate; Wasser said it is a lateral hire and described the applicant as an experienced peace officer.
