Villas HOA reports repeated backflow failures; requests utilities investigation

Kim Cornelius, vice president of the Villas HOA and the association's landscape maintenance lead, told the council the HOA has experienced recurrent backflow-preventer failures and debris in the city water lines that she said is not caused by HOA equipment. She said the incidents required repeated gasket replacements and have cost the HOA between $800 and $1,000 over the past three years.
"This is probably the 5th gasket we found... It's not the HOA equipment. It's debris coming from the city," Cornelius said, describing calls with a water manager and multiple incidents in a short period. She asked the city utilities team to investigate system debris, to coordinate with HOAs and to help reduce the HOA's repair costs. City staff indicated they would make note of the issue and follow up.
