The Vineyard Planning Commission voted unanimously Wednesday to change its regular meeting schedule from the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month to the 1st Wednesday only, with meetings to begin at 7 p.m. The chair moved the change and the commission approved it effective immediately, canceling the August 19 meeting and setting the next regular meeting for September 2, 2026.
Staff emphasized that special meetings can still be scheduled when necessary. Works Director Nasim Gendore explained the process for additional meetings and public notice: "If we need if we feel that we would like to, or excuse me, if this planning commission felt that they need to have an additional meeting, then it would just be a special session," Gendore said, noting the city would publicly notice special sessions and advise commissioners on timing and availability.
In discussion, commissioners said the change responds to frequent cancellations and aims to consolidate business into more substantive agendas while providing staff more predictable timelines for application processing. The motion passed by unanimous voice vote; staff will update city documents and the planning commission bylaws to reflect the new meeting cadence.
