Staff explores expanding dual-credit courses with Governors State and KACC

The superintendent told the committee that Kankakee Area Career Center (KACC) continues to grow its offerings and that he has reached out to the dean of education at Governors State University and referenced Prairie State College's dual-credit model. He said the district will explore whether to send students to partner campuses or to host college instructors locally to increase dual-credit access.
"So provide more dual credit opportunities," the superintendent said, describing outreach efforts and a potential model for bringing dual-credit teacher courses to the district. He also noted that some partnerships may require travel or different delivery models depending on partner capacity. Staff will follow up on feasibility and possible course lists to present to the board.
