Council approves demolition contract for motel portion of Lamplighter Block

Public Works Director Keith Despain presented a demolition contract with Alta Construction (formerly Alta Excavation) for removal of the motel portion of Lamplighter Block. Despain said the contractor had signed the agreement and the demolition work was scheduled to commence the following Monday. Councilmember Ed Long asked about the contract amount; staff indicated a total of approximately $134,000.
On a motion by Councilmember Ed Long, seconded by Councilmember Robin O'Driscoll, the council approved the demolition contract. The motion passed unanimously in a roll call vote. Staff will execute the agreement and oversee demolition activities per the contract terms.
