Board recognizes student athletes and honors bus driver; public comment praises memorial bench and tribute bus

Michelle Pedazzo opened the public-comment portion by thanking the district for a bench outside the athletic entrance and a plaque honoring her mother, Cheryl Lehman, and for having a district bus at her wake to recognize her service as a bus driver. "The gracious bench that's outside the athletic entrance is wonderful. The plaque is beyond perfect," she said, adding that the bench warms the family when they see students sitting there.
The board then recognized elementary students for growth on fall benchmarking and STAR assessments, junior-high and high-school athletes for impressive seasons (including a Beecher High soccer player who holds school career-scoring records and was named all-state), and several students selected for the ILMEA Music Festival. Coaches and staff presented certificates and brief remarks throughout the recognition segment.
