The Swartz Creek Community Schools Board of Education appointed Jenni Wolgast to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Alyssa Bouchard, voting on a resolution at its Oct. 8, 2025, special meeting. The board voted on the appointment by roll call; the resolution was adopted and the board’s executive assistant administered the oath of office to Wolgast that evening.
Board President Carrie Germain explained the selection process before interviews: each candidate received an eight-minute interview and each board member named a first choice (worth two points) and a second choice (worth one point). Using that points system, the board tallied results: Jenni Wolgast — 8 points; Jessica Lanave — 6 points; John Knickerbocker — 4 points. The resolution states Wolgast will serve the unexpired term ending Dec. 31, 2026.
The appointment followed formal procedure to fill a vacancy. The meeting record notes thanks to departing member Alyssa Bouchard; the board plans to continue regular business at its next meeting on Oct. 22, 2025.
